Medical students have it tough – they not only have to do a great deal of practice, but write research papers on wildly diverse topics as well, with some of these topics having little to do with their primary areas of expertise. Medicine is an impossibly wide discipline, and although one can argue in favor of studying as many of its areas as possible before settling on something specific, many college students have a very clear idea what kind of further career they want to pursue, and this approach only scatters their concentration.
