Hey people.
As the title says.
How does alcohol effect your training ?

I am an alcoholic who's cut right back.
Before I started drinking gym was number 1 over recreational activities.
Then 2 years ago i started the booze.
Took nearly 2 years off of training and became a hermit and completed Netflix doing nothing but eat and drink alcohol.

I'm in a place now where I'm no longer physically dependent.
But will have a half bottle sometimes.

I've noticed if I do drink (half.bottle). The next day my strength endurance and drive just go.
It normally comes back after about a week of not drinking.

I know some people will drink a few cans or a few glasses of wine in the evening. For those people, does it effect you at the gym?

Well let me tell you from experience and being in recovery. If you're killing yourself with alcohol and drugs then your body is working overtime to get those substances out of your system . Its either one or the other . I can tell you that since I completely stopped over 3 yrs my world has changed on many levels ,including physically. My body recovers a lot quicker and my gains also come a lot quicker .
You're the keeper of your temple and already know the answer .

The whole training and alcohol thing. It’s a tricky balance. I think it depends on your goals. If you’re hitting the gym hard and aiming for a specific target, cutting back on alcohol can make a big difference in how you feel and perform. It can also slow down recovery and mess with your sleep, which we all know is super important for training.
Life is about balance! Enjoying a drink here and there is fine if it doesn’t become a regular thing derailing your progress. If you feel it's affecting your workouts or motivation, maybe consider taking a break or limiting it.
