Treating HBP w/o RX

High blood pressure is one of the most insidious diseases in the world, particularly amongst the obese and those who use ANABOLIC STEROIDS. Obviously this is where I will focus the attention.

An insidious disease. This is because it is a slow killer. It’s quite easy to walk around with high blood pressure (HBP) and never even know it. Sadly it’s also often neglected amongst AAS users. I say sadly because it’s 100% treatable. The ones with any time in the game usually do not fall into this category..

For those of us that don’t know, HBP leads to stroke, heart attack, and kidney failure. It’s important to look at this because we can prevent all of this quite easily as long as we address them.

In keeping it simple, two things all ‘techy’ athletes should own are a Glucose monitor and a BP cuff.

If you notice your blood pressure is climbing there are a few things to do that will bring it back down. First, is stop taking anything that could be raising it. Things like coffee, tobacco, or steroids-ya know, the good stuff! No? Didn’t think so. Also a vegan diet for a short time can be a game changer.

Next, we need to address water retention and vasoconstriction(or veins being tense). Some A.I’s have diuretic properties and as a side effect will bring BP down. If this doesn’t help, then adding arginine to your regimen may help add elasticity to veins and arteries which could also bring it down. Oddly enough there has been chatter lately, although not proven, that viagra and Cialis do the same thing.

In the event that none of this has worked, you may also try donating blood. This is alleged to return the blood to a less viscose state(more watery). If none of these have worked, go to a doctor and get a BP med. It’s not for forever or even if it is, this is better than any of the avoidable complications that screem I’ve neglected my health.

All drugs have side effects. It’s possible to use these compounds in as safe a way as possible to avoid many of these side effects. Let’s continue to do one more rep, take that extra mile, and do what is needed to be stronger, safer, and smarter for longer. I’m sure I’ve missed a few gems of knowledge here so please share YOUR experience, tricks of the trade, and correct me if I missed something.

Tomorrow is always a new day and Monday is always leg day!

Cheers

Great post Dunbar and X2!

I'll add that drinking plenty of water is helpful as well. Not being hydrated enough also thickens your blood like high rbc count.

After I popped a few DBOL my systolic jumped to 150-160... Diastolic stayed normal but I'm a little paranoid(especially after Matt Porter died) so I dropped a pint of blood and started losartan/hctz to control it. I also stopped all oral steroid intake.

After 2 weeks I'm back in normal range.

That's definitely the water bloat. HBP for a short time is not a big deal. That's something that if undiagnosed or ignored and untreated for a long period of time is definitely a silent killer.
