What it takes to make a good review site

There are more then a handful of review sites out there and some have been around quite some time. So what makes a good review site ? One you can call "Home" ? Ya' know, the one you always end up on, the one you resort to for information, the one that is click, fanboy, and karma whoring free.

A good review site is just that. One you can obtain useful information that is based on other members experiences. A place where you can feel free to share your experiences without being afraid of bashing. A place that is "click free" where groups Don't take over boards influencing others to to express themselves.
Member interaction helps solidify a sites intrrgity, so let's start filling up these forums. Plenty of topics to discuss here folks and plenty of sources to review. Take advantage of the PROMOS for Pete's sake, they are practically giving away their gear in exchange for a fair rewiew. Let's sweep out the crickets and fire up this site.

Good topic for discussion Milkin. I really appreciate your idea. +3 from me.
Here's my opinion on this topic:
Many sources and people who come on this site criticize it only by its shell.
Would you criticize a newborn??
Taurus, me and many brave dudes from here pursue the goal to rise "this child MUSCLEGURUS" in one of the most powerful sites and most importantly reliable ONE! Not like on other forums where are written cheap review for free clen or viagra etc! shame!
On our site we have another policy, and karma points here will not be a benchmark for beggars looking for freebie. Freebie for fake review search elsewhere where already exist beggars community. Please read our rules: http://musclegurus.to/rules-and-guidelines.
Active users will accumulate karma points and receive surprise from Musclegurus too.
Here we are glad to see serious person who give money but are hundred percent sure that will receive sooner or later their products; and qualified people able to share their experience and help other people to train and manage products properly.
So referring to sources: make your job correct then review and notes will stream by itself!
Regarding to clients: here is not “asylum for beggars " :)
I apologize if I was harsh or unfair in anything, you are free to criticize me.
Good luck!

Amen to that Dexter and hats off to you guys for pulling it all together. A site is only as good as the management behind it.
As for karma points, there should be no judgment of ones knowledge based on them. I agree with your logic there. I have seen on other sites where a member with lower karma would feel intimidated to voice his/her opinion on a discussion board filled with higher karma members, or get critized, chased out, or down voted because of his/her comments. Whether one has 2000 karma points or 2 shouldn't represent how much knowledge one has, it what they bring go the table that counts.

Most of the other review sites have evolved into a atmosphere where high karma individuals, and their groupies, greatly influence lower ranking members. A influence that is not beneficial, rather one hinders lower ranking members comfort level of speaking freely. I have seen members get gang raped for karma points for voicing their opinion and often this will escalate into a cyber fist fight and that member eventually getting banned. Nice eeh ?. Most of these sites have spiraled out of control. Personally, I am a mouth and greatly exercise my freedom of speech but respect the rules as one should.
So having competitive sites is not only good for SCR review comparison, but also somewhat of a neutral zone that has not been exhausted by big heads. Members here need to start flooding the forums with questions, product reviews, learning experiences, or just general chat. The SCR's competing for a pole position and offering some great promo's in exchange for your fair review, you're going to buy gear sooner or later why not jump on a promo ?
Lets ignite this site and make it a competitive, respectable community where people can browse worry free from all the other bullshit that evolved elsewhere.

I agree wholeheartedly. I have been able to post pics, ask questions and learn from senior athletes, unabashed and value this forum for those very reasons. I have also made some relationships with some SCR's and think that taking advantage and an honest review of promotionally received items is infinitely helpful for less sophisticated consumers as well as it contributing to one's personal index of knowledge and product experiences. Being candid and honest in all respects keeps people's training honest, fruitful and their source choices informed, safe and cost effective.

You got that right dlovett. Just because a SCR throws you some free gear, a hug, and a pat on the ass, doesn't mean his gear is legit. Yet they will still expect a positive review. I have seen, and personally know, guys that give reviews on promo gear that haven't even tries yet . Fair ratings help everyone out in the long run, and the majority of SCR's running promo's are indeed legit but reviews are what really hold water.

well, i think it is not right when people make a review in exchange of free "items". Do not write about smth you never take. it is not correct. i do realize that these products are not cheap but well, you can always choose not to take them. i do not like this let's say reviews for the birds. an i do not really see any sense in it. ok, i will read one of those gear and try it. but if it is not good i will not buy it again. so what is the sense?

it is a common knowledge that people with lower karma are intimidated by the one with the higher. I'm speaking now about the other forums, not this one. This should not be like that, it is also wrong. If i spent time registering on the forum, writing some reviews why then I should be intimidated? I'm doing the good thing informing other people about the product. Even if i do not like it. we all have the right to know the truth. Is this product really good enough and worth to spend money on? Is this website a scam or should i trust it? I mean, we all spent money and time. no matter how much karma one has anyone has the right for his own opinion...

Good opinion Kitt and yes this site will hopefully grow into a honest, respectable review site whithout the BS that exists on others. In time I am certain we shall see members excel via their input/participation, just as we will shall other fall for breaking rules.
Hand on, enjoy the ride, and participate.

In my opinion, I think that sampling can be just as valuable but it should not be presented under the guise of a purchase. If you receive a sample, you have just as much a moral obligation to fellow members to honestly and candidly voice your experience with respect to the quality and effect of the compounds used. I think that when people sensationalize a product or source simply because they received some hand outs it turns the share of an honest experience into a terribly skewed and misleading bit of false and undeserved publicity. I mean, if you are intent to lend to the greater good and the general knowledge and welfare of the community, it shouldn't matter where/how you accumulate the info you share, so long as it is honest and aptly describes your experience. If you are intending to deceive, you should really just keep your opinions to yourself because this is not that kind of party. I would expose a source/lab/product as quickly as I would endorse same.

As for karma... I am a high sharer with low karma. I do not feel inhibited and would never inhibit a fellow member. There is an anonymous quote that is applicable in all walks of life, "Each person you meet knows something that you don't. Learn from them." I think we are all adults here and have a common goal outside of our lifestyles and fitness and that is to build/maintain a great forum such as the one we are nurturing with all of our posts and shares. It's great to have you aboard, Kitt, and nice to see like minded members supporting each other.

Felt like throwing in a update on my view on how this site is shaking out. Not trying to lead a pep rally here, but after all input is what sites like this are all a out.

Yes, as we know, there are several other sites out there with the same intentions as MG, and those intentions would be SOURCE REVIEWS. There are many sites that have been around for quite sometime while others are just hatching. Although MG is just beginning to sprout, I feel it's important to build that solid foundation so it can evolve into a competitive review site. "Competitive", sounds like running a race huh ? Not really. As I mentioned before, the main objective of sites like this are source reviews. Couple that along with forums chocked with members knowledge and and experiences and you have a review site. Simple eh ? Not exactually. Along with properly aligned admin, you need continuity amongst the members and sources for that matter. With this "Continuity" in play the site not only evolves, but it evolves with a personality. Most of us have or do belong to other sites and you can see where I am coming from right ? By building this foundation in a expression free atmosphere and keeping that expression atmosphere in check, we can keep it real and focus on what's really important like REVIEWS, FEEDBACK, AND SHARING KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCES.

So, back to the competitive race running thing I had mentioned above. No, it not a race to see who is bigger, better, stronger, or faster. It a really good thing when you have multiple review sites where you can compare source reviews. This eliminated the fanfare rallying that goes on when sources run mass promos to gain popularity. Let's keep it real, build that foundatiin, and grow into a respectable community.

So ask yourself... Are you contributing to the community ? Helping build that foundation ?

SHIFTING GEARS, that's whats going on here on MG. Forum involvement is starting to pick up, new members jumping on board daily, and source reviews are trickling in. The more involved you are with sources, the more likely they are to throw up promos. It's a win win situation.

I see quite a few familiar names from other sites which is a good thing and have a feeling feeling we are gaining some major league traction here in the cyber review world.
This site is finally starting to gain momentum, buckle up and hang on.

So this is a question I have been meaning to post as I have pretty limited experience with actual "product".  Times, Comms, security and all that shit I totally understand.  But not much on product.  I have A LOT of different gear on the way to me because of so many great promo's I got carried away :)  That and because where I live OTC is available (Sust only)  but no selection and that is all peeps use.

So how does one review a product?  Is there a list of things I should attend to?  The "drop down box" that you can select from seems rather straight forward..... but how do "I" know if gear is "Good" vs "Excellent".  Or for that matter - whether the person in front of me who gave a review knows?

Just curious and on my way out the door so sorry if I wrote this sloppy.....

Roger  that - And I appreciate the cautionary advise, you will probably giving it me more along the way.  My next cycle will be logged in detail and derived from all the info I have been gathering else ware but mostly here.

Shiiiiittt - What I don't ask enough questions for you already?? :)

Oh - And I got an appointment with an Anti - Aging Specialist here in Costa Rica.  This place in general is pretty expensive to live but VERY reasonable on health care and dental services so I figured what the hell!

It will take time for you to leave a honest review SF since you must first become familar with the compound before you can review it. Take it slow brother, a few simple cycles to get your feet wet and keep researching and asking questions. Especially along the way. Do not fall into that mindset of " I am doing what he is doing " since cycles should be compiled based on experience.

Your first few cycles you will experience all kinds of things, some good and perhaps some not so good. The important thing here is that you safely learn the effects of the compound and make certain you take notes along the way. Go slow, real slow and leave no questions unanswered. And remember that steroids are not a shortcut around proper diet and training.( As you may aready know )

Whatever you "Take away" from your cycle, good or not so good, make sure you share it with the community since thats the whole objective here.

What do you guys think of a spot where source mods and the boss can throw around ideas and give helping hands some of the stuff we say dont need to be seen by everyone. I have questions sometimes that only another source can answer .Of course it would be hidden
