Retatrutide, like Wegovy and Ozempic, is an agonist of glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1). Although it functions similarly to those medications, it also affects two other hormones: glucagon, which can help burn more energy and reduce hunger, and glucose-dependent insulin tropic polypeptide (GIP), which helps control blood sugar.
