This chart came from the Russians and Olympic weightlifting. But applies very well to normal strength training. Most average gym goers do not use percentages they just slap random weights on the bar and go to failure which is a big mistake and one common reason why they are AVERAGE. along with poor exercise selection and poor technique.


Louie simmons used this chart developing the conjugate system.

A friend of mine used sheiko as a beginner to great success. His training is pretty brutal for the average gym goer though. I tend to like power bodybuilding.  I start with powerlifting techniques and finish training with bodybuilding moves. Mike O'Hearn is a good example of how I like to train. Looks like a bodybuilder, but has the strength of a powerlifter. Dude is a beast.
