I had pubertal onset gynecomastia in my teens and a decade later I still experience intermittent itchiness, tenderness and slight perceived growth despite normal basic hormone panel and no prior hormone use. It is not very obvious but it is acutley uncomfortable and suggestive of abnormal growth so, having ruled out cancer I thought I would experiment with proviron to see if tipping the androgen-oestrogen balance would relieve symptoms. Sure enough, 3 days in at 25mg/ day and the itchy and tender swelling has disappeared completely.
