Little bro is up to 156lbs bodyweight and just got a 228lb squat.
His 3 lift total is 679lb up from 541lb
I'm so fucking proud of him.
Crushed all 3 of his goals 2 weeks early. Only thing left is a bodyweight bench.

bodyweight benching isn't that easy for beginners. in fact, i've read somewhere that less than 10% of men (and even less so of women) can bench their own bodyweight.
Well... He's beat his starting bodyweight.
When he started he was 139bw and had a 127lb bench. he has put up 147lb bench But he was 152lb when he did it.
He's 156 now ... Who knows what he'll be on Monday... Fuckin kid is growing like a weed. But whatever his bodyweight is on Monday he's going to give it a shot.

Well he's been doing nothing but strength training since he started. 80-90% of his one rep max, 5 sets of 5 or 3. And every time he hits a PR I usually stop him before I see him giving it 100% effort.
Like that 228lb squat... I'm sure he can do more. But it was a good hard rep. He wasn't screaming and shaking to get it... But definitely had to work for it.
That's usually where I like to stop it.
So I know he's got some more in the tank on every lift... And every time he shows up he's a little bigger and a little stronger.
Unfortunately our genetics make bench press our hardest lift. I'm 6' with a wingspan of someone that's 6'2. And he's 6'2 with the wingspan of someone who's 6'4.
He hasn't tried a PR on bench in 3 weeks... So there's a decent chance he'll get it today.
A 9lb PR increase in 3 weeks... Definitely possible.

And yeah it sure seems like he grows daily πŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ€£.
Started February 10th at 139lbs. He was 156lb Friday. (I wouldn't be surprised if he showed up today at 157+)
17lbs In 8 weeks... That's just over 2lbs a week.

still a lot if you ask me. assuming that at least 80% of it is muscle - that's the perks of being a beginner!
He got 148lb
His last PR was 143 not 147. My memory is shit. He's still 9lbs away from a bodyweight bench. He was 156.8lb bodyweight when he came over.
We tried 155lb but he just couldn't get it, but he's looking a lot bigger. Finally showed up in a tank top... Crazy how similar we are being 10 years apart. He's already got triceps and delts. His forearms look pretty much identical to mine

I think I'm going to go for a new deadlift PR today. Feeling good and strong... Jealous I haven't seen a new PR in a while.
Plus I have a new barbell that should be arriving today. I bought it for deadlifts and over head press.
My current deadlift is 437... Going to try and break 450

I matched my old one of 437, then tried 453lb but failed. I think I burned myself out before I tried. But is what it is... I'm off blast and down to 202lb bodyweight.
Just wanted to show how far this kid has come in 2 months.
He absolutely did not look like this when he started!!!
Our forearms are so similar is fuckin crazy!
He just did my grip tester and got 129.5lbs.
I just hit my best ever of 166.6lb 😈

I sent my mom these pictures, she was so happy she started crying. Then said soon we're going to look like twins.
I honestly can't wait for that day

it is hard to break your PR (if done on blast) when you're off blast. almost impossible.
Just wanted to show how far this kid has come in 2 months.
wtf? he either has crazy genetics or idk. 2 months? he looks like he's been lifting for years. especially since he is natty.

I didn't even think about not being on blast until after I failed the lift.
And good muscle tone runs in our family... We definitely have decent genetics. But yeah this is the first time he's taken weight training seriously. He's still skinny... But he's catching up so quickly. This mother fucker doesn't take pre-workout, creatine... Black pepper or horney goat weed 🀣🀣🀣.

some creatine and protein will never hurt (unless he's sure he already takes huge amounts of protein and creatine from foods).
I can't wait to see him at like 180-185lb bodyweight. He's going to look like a completely different person.

Oh he's definitely getting a ton of protein. He's been insanely dedicated to his diet. Better than myself honestly.
My girl was saying what a good coach I am. And he was singing my praises as well.
I mean yeah I gave him a diet and structure our workouts... But he still has to eat the food and lift the weight.
Glad to see I do know what I'm talking about though πŸ€£πŸ˜‚.
He's got 4 more pounds to go by the 29th to hit his 160lb mark. At this point I'd say he has it in the bag.

The biggest difference is his mood and overall personality. He started lifting because like so many of us, he didn't like how he looked and was dealing with a lot of anxiety. Just got married, new house, new car... So bills were piling up and he just stressed about everything. Stopped eating, stopped going out .. stopped smiling.
I swear right after he started lifting his life took the biggest step for the better. Not only is he happier with more energy, his work and home life started improving. His wife is starting to workout and now... And this is why I believe positivity breeds positivity... They are both up for massive promotions! And I mean massive! If he gets it he'll be making 3x what he makes now (he says it's a 90% chance he's getting it) and she's going to making twice what she makes now.
Together they will instantly be in the upper middle class. Talking $200k a year if both promotions happen. This kid has a whole new... Swagger about him and i couldn't be happier.
It's just crazy to me how 2 months ago he was so stressed out and dreading the week to come. Now he's talking about the future like he's going to fuck shit up!
