Very interesting article (I read the first one). While it seems that there isn't,  of necessity, an anabolic window writ large, the author seems to conclude that consuming protein pre- and post workout does in fact aid in muscle recovery. However, the concomitant intake of carbohydrate  post workout, the author states, has no effect on protein synthesis. (But I, the reader, loves me some post workout gummy bears! Dammit!).

FYI- blast I posted a research article a few months back, and could post dozens more,  that show the same results but....

Although measured muscle protein uptake will be equal several hours after ingestion w/ or wo carbs the insulin spike produced by quick carbs will help speed the process. As a low carb junky I rarely take post workout carbs and we know the masses do. Neither is wrong and both will produce the same results when protein is ingested. It just takes slightly longer without the carbs.

That's more or less what the second article states, in slight contrast to article one.  And, in my opinion, post work out carbs help.  At least my body "feels" better when I do.  There is something to be said with respect to subjective empiricism :) I am a low carb person myself... But them damn gummys get me
