Hey guys, I got Covid and wanted to make a post on this topic because I received some emails from some friends in the bodybuilding community asking me to share my experience now that I have the virus and using anabolics.
I have taken 2 vaccines and was scheduled to take a booster the day that I got the fricking virus. It's been 11 days since I got it, and I'm still positive (I really want to cuss here, but I'm going to refrain myself from doing it publicly, even though I'm saying it aloud in my office). I would describe my symptoms like the flu, only a little bit worse. Normally, I would have recovered by now, taking over the counter medicine, but for some reason, even with over the counter meds, I still have congestion, headaches, and get tired very easily.
I contacted my doctor, who's a friend and knows about my steroid use, to find out what to do. I wanted to share with you guys what he recommended and how that is working out for me. According to him, most Americans will get the virus, however, he said that this variant, omicron, is almost like the regular cold/flu and if I were vaccinated, not to worry. My kids aren't vaccinated and they have absolutely no symptoms. Oh, yeah, I infected my wife and kids.
My dad passed away from the Delta variant a year and a half ago, and I was honestly, a little hesitant about it, knowing that I have the same medical conditions that he had, which has to do with kidney health (kidney stones). My dad passed away in 2 days after getting the virus with pneumonia in both lungs...
His first advice was to drop everything I was taking, except for testosterone. Luckily, I am cruising on 200 mg of test per week at this time and proviron at 50 mg per day. He didn't feel that I needed to drop the proviron either. However, he was clear, when he said that it was very important to drop the other compounds. I don't know if he believed me when I said that I was just using test and proviron, since I'm still holding enough muscle at 50 years old (around 230 lbs as I type this), with abs. Muscle has memory and I never really stopped training after competing.
Anyways, wanted to share is recommendations with all of you MuscleGurus. I no longer post on other sites.
Here's what he recommended for me to take and this applies to anyone with or without the virus, except for day/night Quill and tylenol.
Daily dosage:
5,000-10,000 I.U. of vitamin D3
5,000-10,000 mg of vitamin C - he recommended that I take Sodium Ascorbate (powder form), which is easy on the stomach and highly soluble.
100 mg of Zinc
500-1,000 mg of Quercetin
1 gallon of water
Tylenol for pain and headaches
Day/night Quill or CVS Daytime and Nightime Severe Cold & Flu Relief - cough suppressant, expectorant, nasal decongestant and it also has pain/fever reducer.
You don't take the entire 10,000 mg of vitamin D3 or vitamin c, or 100 mg of Zinc at once but divide these dosages in 2 servings, with breakfast and dinner.
I can also continue to take what I was taking before like:
Omega-3, vitamin E, A, B-complex and selenium.
Since I have to isolate, I didn't train for the first 3 days (felt like shit), however, on day 4, I felt better and started working out (I built a home gym after Covid first hit and gyms closed their doors), but reduced the sets and weights. I was noticeably weaker when I tried to lift what I was used to lifting, got tired easily, my ego didn't allow me to follow what my doctor recommended, but was soon reminded that he was right after trying to go over 300 lbs on the Bench Press like I'm normally accustomed to...it damaged my ego for a moment, but I can easily work with 225 lbs for about 10-15 reps still (not bragging...maybe a little!??)
Anyways, I feel like my body is coming back to full health after following his protocol. I also found that if I don't drink enough water (1 gallon as recommended), I feel fatigued and weak. It's important to drink this much water or more to get rid of the extra vitamin c and D3 and to get rid of any toxins flowing around. Remember that our bodies are composed of 70% of water. We need to feed it's most important element - Water.
My hope is that none of you get this F*****g virus, but if you do, please take good care of yourselves. I want to end this post by stating that I'm not a doctor, or in the medical field. This is my experience and only sharing what I'm currently taking. My point in writing this post is to hopefully, make you feel a little bit better about this variant - omicron and tell you that is nothing compared to the Delta variant that ended many lives, including my father's.
Stay safe, wear your mask, take your vitamins, and avoid silly moves. My wife is having a more difficult time with the virus and is extremely fatigued and congested.
Finally, I wanted to say that I had side effects from the vaccines and have two abscesses on my left kidney after taking the vaccines. I know because I had taken a regular ultrasound days before taking the first vaccine and was clear and 3 months after the 2 vaccine took another ultrasound (had pain) and found that had abscesses. I wonder how many people have side effects from these vaccines and don't even know it...YET!!!
