I doubt it. If your feet are anchored then I suppose its possible, but if they aren't, your legs in general shouldn't be doing anything.

I would have to say no as well. If you hold your knees up and do them then you may get some work on your hip flexors, or if your feet are anchored down then you may as well. Leg raises may do a little isometric work on the quads, but I dont think they would make them "bigger". If that was the case, there would be some soccer moms walking around with oak trees for legs. LOL

Sitting up involves hip flexion, hip flexors attach to the femur, so yes, it can build the thigh slightly, particularly the rectus femoris.

I don't think the legs would ever balloon from situps though, doesn't seem likely.
