I Hear you... I have been a motorcycle rider my whole life. Lots of accidents. I've fallen off a roof and broke neck/back vertebrae, Prosthetic Radial head in my elbow. Many repairs from Dr's : ) Trust me bro, a Stretching/breathing routine is necessary. The thing is, you need to commit 15 minutes every day. I take off here and there but if I stop for a week I cant move. Bottom line, You are not a resilient kid anymore but you can still achieve comfort..

Is tough as hell in the beginning.....but man does it work, I still hate it....just like burpees, they flat out suck, but so effective...

what support gear do you always wear in the gym or just working out?

For me: I wear compression sleeves on both elbows, regardless of body part I work. It makes such a difference for me, I refuse to train without them. glad I can snag them for 9 bucks a piece at target....

I would also say gloves, but unlike my elbow sleeves I will train if I forget them...

Elbow sleeves for me started when I was about 48....

One more thing: warm up time and stretches, mainly back stretches....

- I sound crippled..LOL

Anybody else care to contribute?

This is a great topic that im sure will lead to a pretty entertaining conversation. I too am over 40 (42 to be exact ) 2 years ago had a serious back injury and am jist getting back to myself--ish. Been training aggressively the las 6 months and i prefer raw, but have recently found out....my body does not always agree. Your elbow sleeves are my knee sleeves, my back injury now also has me wearing an underbelt(it basically a sleeve for you lower back) all the time, and my belt as well...more often than not. I wear gloves, but have been forced by the artritis in my hands to use straps and sometime(cringe) hooks on my deadlifts. Some days are better than others, and i will try anything to alleviate pain and gain an edge. I feel this aspect of the gym should be a no judgement zone, but i myself call myself out for using a braces and accesories. Its a double edged sword. But at this age...if it helps you get your goals, or even just gives you piece of mind...i say go for it

I feel you on the crippled part.. I'm only 30 & have injuries in my left elbow & lower back from skateboarding when I was a teenager. I usually use gloves with the wrist support, & I've been loving my copper fit elbow sleeve's. It has helped wonders.. I have a belt I always bring with me to the gym, only for certain heavy sets tho. I need to check out this foam roller you guys are talking about, because my lower back is the worst! Although I've been doing yoga in the mornings which has helped a great deal!

Hey Supps, yes actually, at your advice. Just started it 2 weeks ago at theraputic dose. Want to see how I tolerate it before increasing for my bulk. My understanding is it takes a few weeks to kick in. Ill send you an update in a few weeks in our other thread
